Toyota Muscles Domestics; New Pickup Crossovers Debut

The Toyota Tundra is one significant new pickup slated for 2007.
General Motors and Toyota square off with new full-size pickup trucks for 2007. The new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are available in a variety of configurations and can have one of two interior designs. Maximum towing capacity for light-duty models is a lofty 10,500 pounds.
Slated to hit dealerships in early 2007, the redesigned Toyota Tundra has a much more in-your-face appearance than its predecessor, and takes styling cues from Toyota's FTX concept truck. Both V-6 and V-8 engines are offered, including a new 5.7-liter V-8.
Meanwhile, a number of SUV/pickup crossovers — the Chevrolet Avalanche, Cadillac Escalade EXT and Ford Explorer Sport Trac — have been redesigned for 2007. These trucks feature passenger cabins like sport utility vehicles and pickup truck-style cargo beds. A 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 gives the Escalade EXT bragging rights as the most powerful SUV/pickup crossover in the U.S.
