Entry-level luxury SUVs are all the rage, and now Infiniti has a horse in the race. The EX35 is styled much like Infiniti's latest efforts, taking many cues from the brand's well-received G35 sedan. A 297-horsepower V-6 makes this SUV the most powerful in its class, which includes the Acura RDX, Land Rover LR2 and BMW X3.

When Infiniti's first G35 coupe stormed onto the scene in 2002, it proved a worthy alternative to BMW's 3 Series. Now, as the new 3 Series reassumes control of the segment with a rip-snorting 300 horsepower in the 335i, it seems time for Infiniti to hatch the latest G.

Standout styling blends with athletic handling in this six-cylinder version of Infiniti's crossover sport utility vehicle. The FX35 and its V-8-powered FX45 sibling flaunt distinctive characteristics in the roofline, window treatment and profile that suggest the near-sports-car moves of which this SUV is capable. Face-lifted for 2006, the FX35 includes leather seating surfaces and a 300-watt Bose audio system as standard equipment. Competition includes the Acura MDX and Lexus RX350. Satellite radio is newly standard for 2008.

While the G coupe has been reinvented for 2008 as the G37, the sedan remains the G35, having been redesigned for 2007. The G35 comes in base, Journey, G35x all-wheel drive and Sport trim levels. Changes for 2008 are relatively minor and include an Apple iPod connection, standard XM Satellite Radio (excluding service) and content changes in the Technology and Navigation package options. Later in the model year, new Sport and 18-inch Tire and Wheel packages will be added as options.
