2008 Kia Models

Manufacturer Lineup
2008 Models
Kia Amanti (2008)
$16,300 – $16,400
Kia revamped its Amanti flagship sedan for 2007, and little has changed for 2008. The Amanti competes in the same market segment as the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300. It continues to ape a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, though its engine and interior are at a point where a few people might actually be fooled.
Kia Optima (2008)
$11,250 – $12,300
Kia's Optima is a conservatively styled midsize sedan that's available with either four-cylinder or V-6 power. It can be equipped with some uncommon features for its class — like a manual sunshade for the rear window — and is offered in LX and step-up EX trim levels. It competes with other family sedans like the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
Kia Rio (2008)
$8,925 – $9,900
Essentially mimicking the Rio5 SX hatchback, the SX sedan includes larger wheels and a sportier interior. The Rio sedan competes with other small cars, including the Chevrolet Aveo and Toyota Yaris. In addition to the new front-wheel-drive platform, the '06 Rio's engine produced slightly more horsepower than the outgoing car's. Changes for 2008 include mostly modest interior changes.
Kia Rio5 (2008)
$9,700 – $10,000
Kia's Rio5 hatchback competes with other small hatchbacks, including the Chevrolet Aveo5, Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris. The Rio5 is related to Kia's Rio sedan, which is listed separately in the Cars.com Research section. Available only in SX trim, the Rio5 comes standard with side-impact and side curtain airbags. Changes for 2008 are relatively minor.
Kia Rondo (2008)
$12,800 – $13,700
Breaking its segment's trends, the Rondo has conventional front-opening doors and is much smaller than most other vans. It slots below Kia's larger Sedona and competes with the other mini-minivan on the market, the Mazda5. Introduced in 2007, the only change for the 2008 Rondo is the deletion of the cassette player and the addition of an auxiliary input jack for MP3 players and other audio devices.
Kia Sedona (2008)
$13,700 – $15,650
Kia is one of a handful of carmakers to offer a minivan in both short- and long-wheelbase versions. Both offer a standard 3.8-liter V-6 that makes 250 horsepower. The Sedona competes with other minivans, including the Honda Odyssey and Dodge Grand Caravan. Several minor exterior and interior changes differentiate 2008 models from the 2007 version.
Kia Sorento (2008)
$14,350 – $17,000
Kia's Sorento was the Korean automaker's first foray into midsize sport utility vehicles. At less than 182 inches long, the Sorento technically is a compact SUV, but interior dimensions are comparatively closer to midsize SUVs such as the Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer and Toyota 4Runner. For 2008, there's a new V-6 engine in the base LX Sorento.
Kia Spectra (2008)
$10,000 – $10,850
The Spectra hasn't changed much for 2008, since Kia restyled the front and rear of the Spectra for 2007, giving the compact sedan a new grille, bumper and deck lid. In addition, the interior got a new dashboard as well as some other tweaks in 2007. The Spectra competes with small cars like the Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cobalt and Nissan Versa sedan.
Kia Spectra5 (2008)
$10,950 – $11,000
Kia's Spectra5 hatchback heads into 2008 with only minor changes, since it was restyled for 2007. It competes with several models in a growing market of small hatchbacks. Notable competitors include the Nissan Versa hatchback, the Honda Fit and the Mazda3 hatchback.
Kia Sportage (2008)
$15,350 – $16,200
Besides a minor interior tweak, the 2008 Kia Sportage is identical to last year's model. It's a compact SUV that competes with other small utes such as the Jeep Compass and Honda Element. Because Kia and Hyundai share corporate parentage, the Sportage is related to Hyundai's Tucson.
