Mercury's Grand Marquis and Lincoln's Town Car are the only six-passenger rear-wheel-drive sedans sold in the U.S. with V-8 engines and traditional body-on-frame construction. Their sister vehicle, the Ford Crown Victoria, is now only sold to fleets. The Grand Marquis' 4.6-liter V-8 produces 224 horsepower and can run on E85 ethanol. Little has changed for 2008 beyond the tweaking of a few option packages.

The Mercury Milan is related to the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ and competes in the midsize sedan category against the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Buick LaCrosse. Its base model is front-wheel drive only, but the uplevel trim can be had with either front- or all-wheel drive. The biggest change for 2008 is the addition of a new Sync package that synchronizes phones and other media devices, then makes them voice-activated. The navigation system is also newly voice-activated for 2008.

The Mountaineer comes equipped with a fair amount of standard safety equipment, and very little has changed for the new model year beyond the packaging of options, the addition of a voice-activated Sync communication system and a new capless fuel-filler setup.
