2008 Pontiac Models

Manufacturer Lineup
Introductions
Models debuting in the 2008 model year
Pontiac G8 (2008)
$21,300 – $24,200
The G8 sedan is Pontiac's next full-size sedan and the first North American model based on a new platform that will also support the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro. Fear not, performance junkies: This is a rear-wheel-drive platform developed by GM's Holden division in Australia, where large rear-wheel-drive cars never fell out of favor.
Remaining Lineup
Pontiac G5 (2008)
$11,350 – $13,300
Introduced for 2007, the Pontiac G5 coupe is virtually identical to the Chevrolet Cobalt, which has been around since 2005. The G5 is only offered as a coupe, and is available in base and GT trims. For 2008, the G5 receives standard satellite radio and standard side curtain airbags, as well as added standard features on the GT trim. The G5 competes with other compacts, such as the Ford Focus, Scion tC and Honda Civic.
Pontiac G6 (2008)
$12,350 – $20,100
Pontiac introduced the sporty midsize front-wheel-drive G6 sedan for 2005, aiming it at the Mazda6, Mitsubishi Galant and Nissan Altima. Coupe and retractable-hardtop convertible body styles joined the lineup for 2006. For 2008, a GXP high-performance trim, available as a coupe or sedan, has been added to the lineup. It replaces the GTP model.
Pontiac Grand Prix (2008)
$13,400 – $17,450
Pontiac revamped its midsize front-wheel-drive Grand Prix sedan for 2004. The Grand Prix enters the 2008 model year with few changes. Three new exterior colors are now offered, and the midlevel GT trim has been dropped, leaving only two trims: the base Grand Prix and high-performance GXP. The Grand Prix competes in the same segment as the Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus and Nissan Maxima.
Pontiac Solstice (2008)
$17,900 – $20,100
Pontiac's answer to the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Solstice went on sale for 2006 and was followed up by a turbocharged GXP version last year. A healthy list of changes for 2008 include several features that are now standard on both models: a CD stereo with an MP3 player input, a tire pressure monitoring system, and OnStar and XM Satellite Radio, both of which come with free service for a limited period.
Pontiac Torrent (2008)
$16,000 – $18,300
The Pontiac Torrent is closely related to the Chevrolet Equinox, and for 2008 the Torrent gets a high-performance GXP package. The Torrent's segment competition is the Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty and Toyota RAV4. Engines include a 185-horsepower, 3.4-liter V-6, and GXPs receive a 3.6-liter V-6 with 264 hp. Both regular and GXP models can be equipped with front- or all-wheel drive.
Pontiac Vibe (2008)
$13,900 – $14,000
Styled by Pontiac and engineered by Toyota, the entry-level Vibe four-door hatchback is produced at a Toyota/General Motors joint-venture facility in Fremont, Calif. The plant also produces the Vibe's sister vehicle, the Toyota Matrix. Pontiac launched the Vibe as an early 2003 model. Initially it had a choice of front- or all-wheel drive and low- and high-output engines. Since that time, the choices have only decreased, with two of the most attractive features — the more powerful engine and all-wheel drive — both eliminated for the 2007 model year. On the upside, the Vibe has added safety features such as side airbags and an electronic stability system. As for 2008, with the exception of a tire pressure monitoring system and a few tweaks to option package contents and prices, not a thing has changed since the 2007 model.
