New GMC Models

GM says the Sierra Hybrid's gasoline V-8 and electric motors team up for an overall mileage improvement of 25 percent. Its only direct competitor is its corporate sibling, the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid. The Sierra Hybrid goes on sale in late 2008 as a rear- or four-wheel-drive crew cab, both with a 6.0-liter V-8 and two electric transmission motors. Standard features that are optional on the regular Sierra include an electronic stability system, a trailering package, locking rear differential and side curtain airbags. 

GMC's twin to the Chevrolet Equinox, the Terrain, is all-new for 2010. The five-seat crossover comes in front- or all-wheel drive with a four-cylinder or V-6. With front-wheel drive and the four-cylinder, GMC expects EPA highway gas mileage to end up around 30 mpg. Major competitors include the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. 

The Acadia is GMC's first crossover and is part of a growing family of large crossover vehicles at General Motors. To distinguish itself from its kin (i.e. Buick Enclave/Chevy Traverse/Saturn Outlook), the Acadia shares design cues with GMC's full-size SUVs, the Yukon and Yukon XL. Available with front- or all-wheel drive, the Acadia can seat seven or eight. The Acadia competes with the likes of the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-9.

The Canyon returns with three cab styles and three trim levels: WT, SLE and SLT.
